The two schools would share a kitchen and cafeteria, creating operational efficiencies that justified the connected design. But both buildings were under construction simultaneously, each managed by a separate construction manager. The point where the two structures connected was the project’s most critical coordination challenge. A building envelope tie-in between two structures being built by two different teams had to be executed precisely. If the connection failed, both buildings would be affected for their entire lifespan.
