What initially drew you to Triad Architects?
Throughout school I was very interested in all sectors of design. I wanted to explore every opportunity to see what I was most drawn too / passionate about. In my Senior year at Ohio State, I took the opportunity to explore early learning centers and k-12 education spaces through my capstone project. I quickly fell in love with all aspects of k-12 and knew I wanted to peruse this type of design post-graduation. I was lucky enough to get connected with Triad and instantly knew their design ethics and project involvement aligned with my aspirations.
What do you think sets Triad Architects apart from other firms in the industry?
I believe Triad does an amazing job at putting our design beliefs and standards at the forefront of every project. We try to support and serve the community as best we can to create positive change on a small and large scale.
What trends in architecture and design excite you the most right now?
I have been super interested in regenerative architecture, which is a sustainable approach to understand how we can implement existing systems and materials of the natural world into our built environments. This will make more resilient structures that use limited resources in a regenerative manner. I think this new field is a very forward-thinking approach that goes beyond just being sustainable. We will be able integrate architecture and design to work in tandem with the natural world.
How did you develop your interest in architecture and design?
I was mostly drawn to design for the human and environmental aspects that we are responsible for. We get to use design as a tool to create meaningful and impactful projects that benefit not only humans’ physical and mental health, but also create good in a community and hopefully a global scale.
How do you see the architecture and design industry evolving in the next few years?
I think the implementation of AI into our design processes is going to be a huge evolution in the coming years. I don’t exactly know in what capacity it will be used, but I think it is going to be an exciting tool to benefit our process and make our designs stronger.
What is your favorite architectural style or building, and why?
I was able to live in Chicago for a summer internship and quickly fell in love with all of the amazing architecture around the city. However, my favorite building to walk by was always the Tribune Tower. It has such a strong presence in the city, and it’s so cool the exterior has fragments of famous architectural structures from around the world.
